Fennella Bruce Named 2023 Communicator of the Year by IABC/Toronto
The Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Toronto) has named Fennella Bruce as the 25th Communicator of the Year. A veteran television producer and writer, Bruce is being recognized for her exceptional leadership and communication skills, particularly in elevating the voices of Black professionals within the Canadian media landscape.
Fennella Bruce currently leads FKB Media Solutions and FKB Media Productions Inc, with an illustrious career spanning over two decades in journalism. Her contributions include producing both of Canada’s national morning shows – Your Morning and Canada AM. She has also served in senior roles at major television stations, including CTV News Channel, CTV National, CP24, CityTv, Toronto 1, and BET.
Beyond her influential media career, Fennella has been a staunch advocate for diversity, teaching Media Literacy Theory at Centennial College. Her commitment extends to community service, with significant contributions to Dr. Roz’s Healing Place and as Vice-President of the Foundation Board of Women in Film and Television – Toronto.
The IABC/Toronto Communicator of the Year Award will be presented to Fennella Bruce on March 1, 2024. The event will include a hybrid format and feature a panel discussion with notable figures such as Cityline host Tracy Moore, CBC Toronto anchor Dwight Drummond, and FKB Media Solution client’s Wellness Expert Trudy Stone and Psychotherapist Roxanne Francis. The discussion will explore the impact of media exposure on Black professionals and its role in challenging stereotypes.
