Forge FC Signs Ghanaian Attacker Nana Opoku Ampomah for 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup
Forge FC announced on Thursday that the club has signed Ghanaian attacker Nana Opoku Ampomah to a multi-year contract, making him available for selection in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Ampomah, 28, joins Forge from German side Fortuna Düsseldorf, bringing with him a vast amount of European and international experience. The dynamic attacker spent three seasons with the club (2019-2023), making 26 appearances across all competitions, including 12 appearances in the Bundesliga (German First Division), where he tallied five goals and one assist.
During his tenure with Düsseldorf, Ampomah was loaned out to Belgian side Royal Antwerp in 2021 to aid the club in its Europa League run, making 24 appearances, with seven in Europa League competition, including one against Premier League side Tottenham.
The Ghanaian international earned a transfer to Fortuna Düsseldorf from Belgian side Waasland-Beveren after playing four seasons with the club (2016-2019), amassing 88 appearances and recording 19 goals and 11 assists. Internationally, Ampomah has been capped by Ghana, making one appearance in World Cup qualification, one appearance in African Cup of Nations Qualification, and two friendly appearances.
